Residents and businesses are much safer in Doncaster now than a year ago. Doncaster has seen dramatic reductions in crime with business crime down by 18%, burglary down by 25%, with robbery, drugs, and vehicle crime also falling.
The Police have recognised CASED contribution towards a reduction in town centre crime and the importance the Radio Network has in controlling the actions of persistent offenders.
Your assistance in helping to Create A Safer Environment in Doncaster is appreciated by all our partners. Recent footfall figures released by Town centre Management show a large increase in the number of visitors to town centre all enjoying a safe shopping experience in the town.
The Local Authority Evacuation Plan now uses the CASED Network to circulate information relating to emergencies in the town centre. Should an evacuation be required this will also be circulated to members of CASED who will be requested to inform nearby business not on the network. A specialist team of officers using high powered cars and motor cycles vehicles are to be used to intercept vehicles highlighted by ANPR. Most criminals use cars to commit crime and through ANPR the officers can deny criminals the use of roads in South Yorkshire.
Community First Officers have joined the scheme call sign Charlie Foxtrot.

You are reminded that applications from existing licensed premises to transfer their licences have to be made to the local Authority before August 6 2005 to comply with legal requirements in the Licensing Act 2003.

As you will be aware the Act, which becomes effective from November 2005, means that the Local Authority and not Magistrates will grant all licences for the sale of alcohol.

If a licensee misses the August application deadline and so has not transferred their licence, they will not be able to sell alcohol after November 2005.

Now, with the August deadline on the horizon, Council officials are concerned at the low number of applications that have been received. To date, there have only been 450 applications out of an estimated 800 that need to be made in the Borough. If you have not already made an application the time is running out and you should be showing some urgency. Any enquires can be made with Sgt Paul Wilson on 01302 385168.
Licensees could find their new premises licence at risk if they fail to ensure they have Security Industry Authority (SIA) registered doorstaff.
The SIA says that police and some local authorities regulating the new Licensing Act are starting to look at taking action against licensees. The warning comes as 400 door supervisors face prosecution for operating without an SIA licence.
Members of the evening economy in partnership with Town Centre Management are to hold Doncaster's first ever Music Festival.
The event is to be held in and around the market place on Saturday 23 July with a number of licensed premises also having entertainment within their premises.
If you wish your establishment to join in please make contact with Alan McHugh at the Leopard or Town Centre Management on 736688.
